Sun rising

Sun rising through river red gums
Blinds my vision of the road
A pause
After traversing the dawn
Flood plain country
Green from early winters rain
Thoughts linger on moments past
Of friends discovered
And lessons learned
So much still to learn

I am leaving
But at the same time
I am arriving
Return journey

The rising sun
Warms the earth
Dew turns to mist

Such beauty
A moment to reflect
Before driving towards the sun
