The eagle has landed (almost).
The combination of the Lumix FZ150’s 600mm lens and 1/2000th of a second almost freeze his landing. I find that with birds, flowers & people the soft light of a bright overcast works really well – particularly if you adjust your white balance to get the right tones. And of course, the digital photographer’s creed is always take your shutter button to the first pressure – this ensures that colour balance, focus, white balance etc are all correct when you take the shot. I’m also a sucker for a fine (short) depth of field – I find backgrounds should be that – slightly (or more) out of focus so they don’t distract from the main image. Digital cameras on auto try to focus on everything…
